Oh, dear. I was sitting here wondering why on earth I had that dessert anyway. Now this question. :-)

How'd you do that? I love the photo, and the melding into white. Is that a Photoshop thing or is it in how you took the photo? I want to try it!

I'd like to know, too, how got it to fade into white. Nice.

Not a photoshop thing... I believe in happy accidents. I truly am only half aware of the settings on my camera because I enjoy the "mistakes" that can be allowed to happen if I feel I have the freedom to play rather than be constrained by technical issues. So, in my mind for this picture I had an idea of the composition and shot it holding the camera away from me. It is soft focused because the lens I had really needed to be just a little further away to be able to focus completely... and, the photo was a bit underexposed which I think added to getting the soft fading away edge. I did upload it into photoshop and balanced the color which made the white wall in the background look white as opposed to the bluish-gray tint it had intiially. I could post the original photo to show you what I mean if that would help. I didn't change it that much. Sometimes my approach to photography is frustrating because there are *some* times when I'd really like to be able to know the exact right aperture and shutter speed to get the photo right but those times are usually when I am trying to capture an event rather than doing a self portrait. Well, I've written a book now.

amazing shot, even moreso that it was a happy accident, IMO.
